This gorgeous Danish Modern coffee pot is truly stunning. An incredibly rare piece, this hand-painted coffee pot was made in the Nymølle pottery studio of Denmark some time after World War II. Prolific Danish designer Bjørn Wiinblad designed nearly all of the pieces coming out of the Nymølle studio for the first decade or so after the war, and as this hand-painted piece is numbered (9) and signed with a 'W', I believe this may be an early Wiinblad piece. The detailed geometric pattern and curvy amorphic shape make this beauty a real show-stopper. Sure to be the perfect addition to your Danish Modern pottery collection!
Condition:
➝ In very good condition for its age. Hand-painted design is bright and crisp with no fading. Lid has a number of small chips around the rim where it sets on top of the body, as well as a small chip on the upper handle. The body of the teapot has a chip near the rim as well as a hairline crack measuring about 1 inch long; it does not appear to be in any danger of growing larger. There is also one small chip in the tip of the pot's spout. All damage is shown in the last 3 photos. Despite these minor flaws, this rare piece displays beautifully and still has plenty of life left in it.
Measurements:
➝ 9.25 inches tall with lid
➝ 6 from spout to handle
➝ 4.5 inches in diameter
Bottom marked Nymølle Denmark. Signed 'W.' and numbered '9'.
